WI vs AUS: Mitchell Starc & Wade Powers Australia to a Series Clinching Win over Windies in the third ODI

Mitchell Starc’s stunning three-wicket haul & Matthew Wade’s blistering unbeaten 51 runs knock guided Australia to beat West Indies by six wickets in the third & the final ODI at the Kensington Oval. With this scintillating win, Australia clinched the three-match ODI series by a 2-1 score.

Chasing an average total of 153 runs, visitors got off to a poor start as they lost two wickets with 27 runs on the board. Josh Phillipe (10) & Moises Henriques (1) failed to leave a mark with the bat as they succumbed to Windies bowling attack. Then came Alex Carey & Mitchell Marsh who scored 38 runs for the third wicket, but soon this stand came to an end in the 14th over as Sheldon Cottrell sent Marsh (29) back to the pavilion, reducing Australia to 65/3.

Matthew Wade then joined Carey in the middle & the duo scored runs at a brisk pace by smashing West Indies bowlers for maximum. Wade-Carey duo put up 34 runs on board but the moment Australia was gaining the momentum, Windies bounced back with Hayden Walsh dismissing Carey for 35 runs. However, Ashton Agar (19*) along with Wade (51*) took Australia home by six wickets & 117 balls to spare.

Earlier a restricted bowling attack by Australia wrapped up West Indies innings for just 152 runs inside 46 overs. Mitchell Starc scalped three wickets while Josh Hazlewood, Ashton Agar & Adam Zampa fetched two wickets each to help Australia dominate over West Indies batsmen. No West Indies batsmen were able to stay at the crease for a long time & only Evin Lewis showed some fight with the bat as he registered a blistering knock of 55 runs by hitting five 4s & three 6s
