WI vs PAK 2021, 2nd Test: Kemar Roach scalped three wickets to keep hosts on the winning track but spectacular half-centuries by captain Babar Azam & Fawad Alam helped Pakistan to lead a fightback on the opening day of the second test match against West Indies on Friday.
At stumps on Day 1, Pakistan’s scoreboard read 212/4 with Mohammed Rizwan & Faheem Ashraf remained unbeaten at 22 & 23 respectively. For West Indies, Kemar Roach scalped three wickets. However, Babar Azam & Fawad Alam steadied Pakistan’s innings on the first day of the second test after the hosts reduced visitors to 2/3.
Sent in to bat first, Pakistan got off to a poor start as the team lost its top three batsmen for just two runs. Babar & Fawad brought Pakistan back into the game after having a testing first hour as Pakistan was 32/3. An unbeaten fifty-run partnership between Babar & Alam helped Pakistan to recover at the end of the first session on day one of the second test.
In the third session, Fawad Alam went off the crease after struggling with cramps. He scored 76 runs before walking back to the pavilion. Minutes after Alam went off to the pavilion, Babar Azam got dismissed at 168/4 as Roach fetched his wicket. Rizwan & Faheem then led Pakistan to a score of 212/4 at the stumps on Day 1.
