ZIM vs BAN: Bangladesh spinner Shakib-al-Hasan became the country’s highest wicket-taker in all three formats of cricket. He achieved the remarkable feat when he took the crucial wicket of Zimbabwe’s captain, Brendon Taylor, in the ongoing first ODI. Shakib overtook Mashrafe Mortaza to become the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in ODI format.
Shakib-Al-Hasan made his International Debut in 2006 & has played 213 ODI matches in which he has picked 271 wickets at a brilliant economy of 4.45 and an average of 29.76. Shakib has also achieved the feat of highest wicket-taker in test cricket by scalping 215 wickets. He has played 58 tests in his career. While in T20I format he has scalped 76 wickets.
Shedding light on the ongoing match, Zimbabwe got off to a bad start in its chase of 276 runs. Tadiwanashe Marumani was removed right in the second over of the chase to leave hosts reeling for runs. Further, Wesley Madhevere was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed.
Then came Dion Myers and Brendan Taylor who steadied Zimbabwe’s chase by stitching a strong partnership. However, their promising stand didn’t last long as Mossadek Hossain took a catch at deep square leg to remove Myers. Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor soon perished, with Shakib Al Hasan foxing him with a flighted delivery, as he top-edged a sweep into the hands of Taskin Ahmed.
The match is reaching a crucial point & it seems like Bangladesh is dominating Zimbabwe in the ongoing ODI match. Who will register a stunning win to take a lead is a ‘wait & watch’ thing.
