ZIM vs BAN: Zimbabwe seals historic first ever T20I series win over Bangladesh

ZIM vs BAN: Zimbabwe outclassed Bangladesh in the final T-20 International match by 10 runs to record a clinical 2-1 series victory. With this, Zimbabwe registered their maiden T-20I series victory over Bangladesh. Strong resilience and a mesmerizing all-round performance helped Zimbabwe to achieve a milestone.

Winning the toss on a dusty pitch at the Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine decided to bat first. Riding on to exemplary performances of Ryan Burl and Luke Jongwe, Zimbabwe put up a challenging total of 156/8 in their 20 overs.

Zimbabwe was off to a decent start as Regis Chakabva (17) and Craig Ervine (24) added 30 runs for the first wicket. However, wickets started to tumble soon as a middle-order collapse took the hosts to 67/6 in the first 13 overs.

Ryan Burl (54) and Luke Jongwe (35) came to the rescue as they put up a magnificent match-winning stand of 79 runs for the seventh wicket.

For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan (2/28) and Hasan Mahmud (2/28) lead the bowling attack by chipping in a couple of wickets whereas Mustafizur, Mosaddek, Nurul, and Mahmadullah scalped a wicket apiece.

Chasing a modest total of 157, Bangladesh fell short of 10 runs and was restricted to a total of 146/8. Liton Das (13) and Parvez Emon (2) opened the innings for Bangladesh on a disappointing note. Haque (14) and Shanto (16) came in next but failed to hold the crease as Bangladesh was down to 60/4.

Afif Hossain (39) and Mahmadullah (27) added a vital stand of 39 runs for the sixth wicket but their efforts went in vain as the lower middle-order failed to capitalize on their performance. Mehidy Hasan (22) made the only notable contribution in the end.

For Zimbabwe, Victor Nyauchi starred in the bowling attack as he recorded a figure of 3/29. Brad Evans (2/26) supported Nyauchi whereas Madhevere (1/14), Williams (1/16), and Jongwe (1/28) picked up a wicket apiece.

Zimbabwe will now take on Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series that will start on 5th August.
