Preparations for the IPL 2023 have started in full swing with IPL 2023 auction to be held on December 23 in Kochi. Ahead of the auction, the BCCI has asked each franchisee to submit the list of released & retained players for IPL 2023 by November 15. As per the reports, MI & CSK have done their work by submitting the list of retained & released players. Let’s have a look at them:
IPL 2023 Retained Players List of Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians who are five times IPL title winners had an unforgettable IPL 2022. They finished the IPL 2022 at the 10th position in the Points Table which is their worst performance in the history of IPL. To avoid the repetition of the previous season, Mumbai Indians have decided to make some tough calls. As per the reports, they have retained 10 players & released five players. Dewald Brewis, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Daniel Sams. Jofra Archer, Tim David, Tilka Verma & Tristan Stubbs are the players retained by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2023. On the other hand, Hrithik Shoukin, Mayank Markande, Tymal Mills & Kieron pollard have been released by the franchise.
Players Retained by Chennai Super Kings
CSK is no different than Mumbai Indians who ended the IPL 2022 at the bottom of the Points table. They won just four out of 14 matches being played which resulted at the end of their IPL 2022 Campaign. Initially, Jadeja was handed the captaincy of the franchise in the previous season. But CSK had a horrible time during the starting phase of the tournament which forced Jadeja to step down from Captaincy. And later after leaving the post, he sustained an injury that ruled him out of the entire tournament.
After a disgusting IPL 2022, CSK has made some calculative moves to ensure that they have a good season this year. They have retained players such as Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Chahar, Mukesh Chaudhary & Dwayne Pretorious for IPL 2023. On the other hand, they have released the likes of Chris Jordan, Adam Milne, Narayan Jagdeeshan, and Mitchell Santner.
Earlier this week, the BCCI postponed the dates for IPL 2023 Auctions by a week. The IPL 2023 Auction which was fixed on December 16 has been postponed to December 23 with the venue being moved to Kochi.
