ENG vs NED 3rd ODI: Scintillating knocks by Jason Roy & Jos Buttler guided England to a stunning eight-wicket win over the Netherlands in the third ODI at the VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen on Wednesday. With this win, England has swept the series by a 3-0 score. An unbeaten century by Jason Roy & an unbeaten knock of 86 runs by Jos Buttler helped England chase the target of 245 runs in just 30.1 overs with eight wickets in hands.

Dutch batters succumbed in front of England’s pace attack

The match unfolded with England winning the toss & opting to bowl first. Put in to bat first, the Netherlands had a poor start as they lost the wicket of the opener, Vikramjit Singh right in the fifth over with just 16 runs on board. The batter was caught by Dawid Malan on David Willey’s delivery. Tom Cooper then will join hands with opener Max ODowd & the duo anchored their innings further.

However soon England bounced back to dismiss the duo to get an upper hand in the innings. Liam Livingstone struck first & removed Cooper after scoring 33 runs off 37 balls in the 18th over while Max got dismissed in the 25th over after scoring fifty in just 69 balls.

Bas de Leede & Captain Scott Edwards then came on the crease & changed the momentum of the game in their favor. The duo stitched an 84-run stand & gave the Netherlands a strong hand. However, England didn’t let their happiness flourish further as Brydon Carse struck & dismissed De Leede in the 40th over after scoring 56 runs off 78 balls.

Te Ja Nidamanuru, Logan Van Beek, Tim pringle (6), and Aryan Dutt all failed to hit the straps & left the Netherlands struggling for runs. Edwards on the other end was going strong but his reign ended when he was caught by Roy on David Payne’s delivery. He got dismissed after playing a captain’s knock of 64 runs. Paul van Meekeren also departed in the 50th over to wrap Netherlands innings at 244 runs.

Buttler, Roy’s gleaming knock took England over the line in 30.1 overs

The chase of 245 runs looked like a cakewalk for England who scored 81 runs in 9 overs with Roy & Philip chipping in with crucial runs. It was in the 10th over, when the Netherlands got a major breakthrough with Meekeren dismissing Salt after scoring 49 runs followed by Malan’s dismissal in the same over.

With two back-to-back dismissals, England brought Buttler on the crease & the big hitter along with Roy smashed England bowlers all scored the park. The duo chased the huge target of 245 runs in 30.1 overs & claimed the three-match ODI series with a 3-0 score. Jos Buttler scored an unbeaten 86 runs off 64 balls while Jason Roy stayed unbeaten at 101 off 86 balls to help England get over the line with eight wickets in hand.
