ENG vs NZ 2022: Trent Boult likely to miss the first Test due to IPL Finals

ENG vs NZ 2022: The New Zealand team suffered a major setback as their star pacer Trent Boult is likely to miss the first test against England starting on June 2 due to his IPL duties. The left-arm pacer is all set to play IPL 2022 Finals against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, May 29 & after the conclusion of the league it won’t be possible for Boult to join the touring team on time for the preparations of their first Test.

Trent Boult’s absence could prove costly for the New Zealand team as he is currently in good form & his tactics would have proved useful in front of a full-fledged England Test squad. With Boult likely to be unavailable for the first Test, New Zealand would look upon Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson, Neil Wagner, and Matt Henry as possible options.

Trent Boult is doing extremely well for his franchise RR in the IPL 2022 which has defeated RCB in the Qualifier 2 to seal a spot in the IPL 2022 final. In the ongoing IPL season, Boult has scalped 15 wickets in 15 matches at an economy rate of 8.24 runs per over. He was brilliant against RCB in Qualifier as he conceded only 28 runs and picked up one wicket. The pacer would look ahead to continue his gleaming form in the finals against Gujarat Titans by scalping crucial wickets.

Talking about the match, the Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2022 was no less than a nerve-triggering affair for fans. Jos Buttler smashed his fourth ton of the IPL 2022 on Friday to help RR beat RCB by seven wikcets & took them into the final of the IPL 2022. In the chase of 157 runs, Jos Buttler stayed unbeaten at 106 in 60 balls guiding his team over the line in 18.1 overs. He got valuable support in face of Sanju Samson who scored 23 runs off 21 balls. Buttler’s blitzkrieg helped RR to become the second finalist of the IPL 2022.

Earlier, RCB had a tough time with the bat as none of their batsmen could convert their starts into big scores. Virat Kohli (7 off 8) once again failed to hit the straps. However, Patidar (58 off 42) & Plessis (25 off 24) did the rebuilding for them by stitching a 70-run stand for the second wicket. Glenn Maxwell too chipped in with 24 off 13 balls. After the fall of Patidar’s wicket in the 16th over, RCB suffered a collapse as none of their batters could take over from there. In the end, their innings were wrapped at 157 in the allotted 20 overs.

With this win, RR proudly marched into the finals of the IPL 2022 & would dream of lifting the shining IPL Trophy for the second time after 2008.
