ENG vs SA: There comes good news for England Cricket Team as their ace fast bowler Jofra Archer has been named in the England squad for the first time since March 2021. Archer will feature in England’s ODI squad for their upcoming series against South Africa.
Archer has been away from cricket for a long time now due to his long-term elbow injuries and underwent several surgeries to recover from it fully. In addition to elbow injuries, Archer had suffered a grueling stress fracture of the back in May this year. He had last featured for England in a T20I series against India. Speaking about Archer’s inclusion, ECB said that he is recovering well from an elbow injury & is expected to return to International Cricket from the South Africa series beginning next month.
On the other hand left-arm pacer, Reece Topley who encountered an ankle injury during a fielding drill before T20 World Cup 2022 fixture against Afghanistan has also been included in Archer’s squad. ECB further said that Topley who made an excellent recovery from his left ankle injury is ready to feature in the three-match ODI series against South Africa.
Harry Brook & Ben Duckett named in England’s ODI Squad
Two notable names have been added to England’s ODI squad for the two-match series. Yorkshire’s batter Harry Brook & southpaw opener Ben Duckett has been included in the ODI squad. Brook who has been a regular face in England’s T20I squad has received a maiden call-up in the ODI squad. Notably, Brook was named Player of the Series in the recently ended Test Series in Pakistan. Another notable inclusion in the ODI squad is Ben Duckett who will feature in an ODI fixture for the first time since 2016.
The first two fixtures of the three-match ODI series will be played in Bloemfontein on January 27 & 29 while the final fixture will be played on February 1 in Kimberly.
