England appoints Neil Killeen as Men’s team Fast Bowling Coach

The ECB has appointed Neil Killeen as the England Men team’s fast-bowling coach. Killeen has ended his 30 years long association with his home county Durham to take up this role with England’s Cricket team which has been vacant since November 2022 when their previous Head Coach Jon Lewis England’s former fast bowling coach was appointed as England Women’s team Head Coach.

Killeen will soon take up his duties with England’s fast bowling coach & will work along with the England Men’s team’s pathway programs which will focus on the development of next-gen cricketers & budding cricketers who are gearing up for their national debut.

Speaking about his appointment, Killeen said, “I’m delighted to be appointed Elite Pace Bowling Coach with the ECB and can’t wait to get started with a new challenge,” said Killeen.

A Glimpse of Neil Killeen’s Achievements

Neil Killeen worked as England’s bowling coach on their ODI tour of the Netherlands at the start of 2022 summer. He has worked along with England’s newly appointed white-ball coach Matthew Mott & was in charge of fats bowlers during England lions training camp in November. He has also worked with England’s Test regulars such as James Anderson & Ollie Robinson on their historic Test tour of Pakistan. In addition, he has also worked with Jofra Archer & Saqib Mahmood who were recovering from injuries. He has also undertaken assignments with England’s U19s. Killeen has also spent the end of the 2022 season as Durham’s stand-in head Coach the moment James Franklin left the contract in September with three rounds of the County Championship before Ryan Campbell was appointed as a full-time replacement. Killeen was under consideration for this role.

Killeen has played in 350 matches for Chester-Le-Street club, winning the Friends Provident trophy in 2007 & remains Durham’s leading wicket-taker in List A format. After retirement in 2010, Killeen began his coaching career, taking up the role of assistant lead & head bowling coach. He is credited for grooming Durham’s key players including Ben Stokes & fellow Internationals such as Matthew Potts, Mark Wood & Brydon Carse.
