India’s astounding win in the IND vs ENG 4th Test 2021 helped the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shardul Thakur & Jasprit Bumrah to make notable gains in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings update.
Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur’s blistering form with both bat & the ball helped him to make positive gains in the weekly Rankings Updates. Shardul Thakur’s two half-centuries helped him to move up by 59 places to grab 79th position in the batters list. By finishing the fourth test with a four-wicket haul, Shardul climbed up by seven spots to reach 49th position in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings bowlers list. Shardul’s gutsy knocks with the bat & heroics with the ball helped the Indian squad register a hard-fought win in the fourth Test at the Oval stadium.
The other Indian batsman who has made remarkable gains in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings list is India’s opener batsman Rohit Sharma. The ‘hitman’ starred with the bat & achieved laurels by registering his maiden overseas century in the fourth test against England. Victory would have been an impossible task if Rohit haven’t steadied India’s innings in the fourth test. Rohit Sharma’s gleaming 127 runs knock in the second innings helped India to post a competitive 368 run target against England. Rohit’s stunning performance in the fourth test helped him to retain his fifth position in the ICC Test Rankings list. His blistering knock helped him to gain 30 points lead over Indian Captain Virat Kohli.
Meanwhile, Virat’s Half-century & 44 runs knock during the fourth test has helped him to gain 17 points in the latest Rankings update. For England, Ollie Pope & Chris Woakes made notable gains in the ICC Men’s Test Rankings batters list. Ollie Pope’s first innings knock of 82 helped him to advance by nine spots to occupy 49th position while Chris Woakes moved up by seven places to occupy 87th position among the batters list. Shardul Thakur’s crucial seven-wicket haul in the fourth test has helped him to move up by three places to occupy 23rd position in the Bowlers list.
Jasprit Bumrah riding on the back of a stupendous four-wicket haul moved up by one place to occupy 10th position in the bowler’s rankings list. His reverse swing lethal bowling attack helped India to snatch victory from the hands of England on day five of the fourth test. Engalnd’s star pacer James Anderson who could scalp just two wickets in the fourth test has moved down by two places to reach 7th position in the bowlers rankings list.
Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin despite being benched for four tests has maintained his No. 2 spot in the ICC Test rankings for bowlers. However, he lost one spot in the all-rounder charts and is now placed at No. 5 as Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan replaced him at No. 4.
England’s Ollie Robinson also gained in the latest Ranking update. His five-wicket haul has helped him to move up by three places to 33rd position in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings for bowlers. England captain Joe Root comfortably retained his top spot, as did Australia’s Pat Cummins (for bowlers) and West Indies’ Jason Holder (for all-rounders).
