ICC Women’s Rankings: Mithali raj retains top spot while Lizelle Lee slips down to second spot

New Zealand’s former Captain Amy Satterthwaite has returned back to the top five list of the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings. Indian Women’s team Captain Mithali Raj retained the top spot while Lizelle Lee slipped down to second place in the latest Rankings update.

New Zealand’s Amy Sattherwaite who has been top-ranked in the past returned back to the fifth position in the ODI rankings update almost after five months. Satterthwaite could return back in the top five after registering a blistering unbeaten 79 runs in the first ODI against England in Bristol. Lizelle Lee who shared the first position along with Mithali last week is now one point behind her. Performances of the first ODI match between India Women vs Australia women is not included in the latest rankings update as the women’s weekly rankings update considers fixtures played till Monday of each week.

Other players who gained in the latest rankings update are Brooke Halliday who moved up by four places to 43rs position in the batters list, & the group of Leigh Kasperek who advanced up by two places to reach 14th position, Lea Tahuhu moved up by four places to 24th, Hannah Rowe moved up by eight places to 38th position & Jess Kerr moved up y four places to 41st position are the players who gained in the bowler’s list despite New Zealand conceding a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Several England players have moved up in the latest rankings update after displaying some swashbuckling performances against New Zealand women. Captain Heather Knight’s ‘Player of the Match’ knock of 89 runs in the first ODI lifted her by five places to ninth position. Danielle Wyatt 33rd & Lauren Winfield Hill 37th have also moved up by five slots each while Katherine Brunt advanced up by three places to the 38th position.

The latest ICC Women’s ODI Player rankings also consider performances in the last two matches of the West Indies vs South Africa series which was won by South Africa with a 4-1 score. Spinner Sophie Ecclestone (sixth spot) & Katherine Brunt (seventh) moved up by one place while Kate Cross advanced up by two places to 15th position. Natalie Sciver moved up by three spots to 18th position in the latest ICC Women’s Player Rankings Update.

Masabata Klaas who scalped two wickets for 25 in the fourth ODI has moved up by three places to 40th position, while Nadine De Klerk has advanced by nine spots to reach 52nd position & Chloe Tryon has moved up from 65th to 57th position. Meanwhile, in the Women’s ODI Players Rankings for all-rounders, Deepti Sharma has risen to the fourth position. Sharma has overtaken West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor in the latest rankings update.
