ICC Women’s Rankings: Stafanie & Matthews moves up in the latest Rankings Updates

West Indies batter Stafanie Taylor & Hayley Matthews moved up into the top 10 list in the latest ICC Women’s Rankings update. They have achieved remarkable gains in the recent rankings update after displaying outstanding performances in the Pakistan tour. Stafanie Taylor moved up by three spots to occupy the 9th position in the latest update. She scored 131 runs in three ODI’s at an average of 65.50 against the Pakistani side. Meanwhile West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews also moved up to 10th spot in the ICC ODI all-rounder Rankings Update.

Taylor moved up to the top 10 list in the batting Rankings & maintained her No 4 spot in the all-rounder rankings while Matthews moved up to her highest career rating 272 joining Katherine Brunt & Jess Jonassen.

Stafanie Taylor was at her career-best in the West Indies ODI against Ireland in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier where she scalped the prized wicket of Eimear Richardson in a spell of 2/15. Taylor chipped in with a valuable 41 off 54 balls to register a six-wicket win. In this successful chase, Taylor surpassed Heather Knight, Rachael Haynes & laura Wolvaardt to grab the ninth spot.

Matthews was miserly in her spell as she dismissed Ireland Captain Laura Delany & Orla Prendergast in the same over finishing with 2/20 from her allotted 10 overs. Players from both Zimbabwe & Pakistan made big gains in the latest Rankings on the back of valuable performances during Qualifier.

Meanwhile, Veteran Indian women’s team batter Mithali raj managed to retain her third spot in the latest ICC Women’s ODI batting Rankings Update. Her teammate Smriti Mandhana also maintained her sixth position in the latest rankings update. They were the only Indians to feature in the top 10 list.

The Indian women’s team last played an ODI series in September against Australia. However, Mithali Raj didn’t have an impressive outing with the bat as she could muster just 87 runs from three matches at an average of 29 with the one-half century in her kitty. Smriti Mandhana on the other hand was the second-highest run-scorer in the series as she amassed 124 runs across three matches at an average of 41.33, with 86 being her best score.
