ICC ODI Team Rankings: India, Pakistan retains Top Spots

ICC ODI Team Rankings: Asian powerhouses India and Pakistan gained massive ratings and continued to power the ODI rankings at the third and fourth positions respectively. The White-Ball specialists outplayed their associate hosts. While India registered a stunning 3-0 victory over Zimbabwe, Pakistan too outplayed the Netherlands by the same margin.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the latest MRF Tyres ICC ODI team rankings on Tuesday. India boosted their rating to 111 points and retained its third position in the standings whereas its arch-rivals maintained their fourth position with a strong increase in their rating to 107.

On the other side, the Blackcaps continued to sizzle on the top spot after a scintillating 2-1 victory in the recently concluded series against West Indies. Initially, New Zealand (124) had a significant nine rating lead but it has now been reduced to five as the Caribbean got hold of the Kiwis in the second match of the series.

New Zealand will now face a tough challenge and resistance from their neighbor Australia as the two befitting opponents clash in a three-match series starting next month. Australia will host the much-anticipated series where New Zealand will aim to seal the series and retain their top spot.

ICC ODI Team Rankings: Australia-New Zealand ODI Series could shuffle Rankings Scenario

The stakes in the Australian-New Zealand series will be high as the rankings will twist and turn after the conclusion. New Zealand’s victory ensures their retention whereas their defeat escalates England to the top spot and Australia overtakes Pakistan to claim the fourth position.

Meanwhile, England continued to stay at the second position with a rating of 119. They are currently engaged in a test series against South Africa. In the fascinating upcoming schedule, Australia is hosting Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series whereas India will get a chance to expedite their rankings as they host South Africa for a three-match series in October. Pakistan won’t feature in ODI’s until the conclusion of the T-20 World Cup in Australia.
