ICC T20I Rankings: Babar Azam overtakes Malan to grab No.1 spot in batters Rankings while Hasaranga tops bowlers charts

Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s two half-centuries in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 have helped him to surpass Dawid Malan to grab the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings for batsmen.

Babar Azam who has been vital in Pakistan’s qualification to the semi-finals with a four-in-four win record is the third-highest run-scorer in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 by scoring 198 runs from four innings. This spectacular stint with the bat has helped him to grab the top spot in the T20I Rankings for the sixth time in his career.

Babar Azam’s tally of 834 rating points has helped him to stay 36 points ahead of Dawid Malan. Babar Azam has first attained the top spot in the T20I Rankings on January 28.2018. He is also the No 1 ranked batsman in the ODI Rankings.

In the latest Rankings update, Jos Buttler moves from 17th spot to his career-best ninth position on the batters Rankings list. Other batters who have moved up in the latest rankings update is Aaron Finch who has moved from the sixth position to third position while Temba Bavuma has moved up by 35 spots to No 52 position.

In the T20I bowler’s Rankings, Wanindu Hasaranga’s twin three-wicket hauls against South Africa & England have helped him to overtake Tabraiz Shamsi to reach the top spot in the latest bowlers rankings. Hasaranga is also the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 14 strikes from seven matches.

Adil Rashid replaced Rashid Khan at third place in the bowler’s rankings list with a career-best 730 rating points. Anrich Nortje who is the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing marquee event has moved up by 18 places to the seventh poistion by scalping eight wickets from four matches. Other bowlers who have gained in the rankings include Dwaine Pretorius (up 65 places to 34th) and Shoriful Islam (up 77 places to 38th).

In the Top 20, Chris Jordan has moved up by four spots to the ninth position, Ish Sodhi has moved up by six places to tenth, and his spin twin Mitchell Santner has gone up four places to 17th. In the all-rounders T20I Rankings list, Mohammad Nabi has grabbed No 1 position while Hasaranga has climbed to fourth position.
