ICC T20I Rankings: Shreyas Iyer, Nissanka makes positive gains, Kohli moves out of the top ten

The International Cricket Council has released the latest updated ICC T20I Rankings list which also considers IND vs SL, T20I series performances. In the latest weekly update, Shreyas Iyer who was named as the Player of the series in the T20I series swept 3-0 against Sri Lanka after amassing 204 runs comprising three fifties moved up by 27 places to occupy 18th position in the ICC T20I Rankings for batters.

Though Iyer made positive gains, Virat Kohli who was rested for the T20I series has dropped out of the top ten list to 15th position while Pathum Nissanka’s blistering 75 in the second T20I helped him to move up by six places to occupy the ninth position in the T20I Rankings list for batters. Muhammad Waseem’s 112 off 66 balls in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier A against Ireland helped him to move up to grab 12th position in the batters Rankings list. He also becomes the first UAE batter to reach such a high position in the T20I rankings. Rohan Mustafa who has displayed swashbuckling performances in Al Amerat with both bat & ball by amassing 96 runs in four innings & scalping eight wickets has moved up to the sixth poistion among the all-rounders rankings list.

The Rankings has also considered the performances of the Bangladesh ODI series agaisnt Afghanistan which the former nation won by 2-1. Litton Das who returned with 136 & 86 runs in the second & third ODI grabbed 32nd position in the ICC T20I Rankings for batters. Rashid Khan re-entered the top ten list to occupy No.9 poistion after scalping five wickets while Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz moved down by two places to grab the seventh position in the bowlers Rankings list.

The latest ICC Test Rankings has taken into account the performances of the recently concluded NZ vs SA test series which was ended in a draw. Kagiso Rabada who won the ‘Player of the Match’ in the secodn test for scalping eight wickets & chipping in with crucial 47 runs helped him to rise up to No 3 position in the Test Rankings for bowlers. Only Pat Cummins and R Ashwin are now above him.

Due to New Zealand’s humiliating performance in the second test, Kyle Jamieson slipped down by two spots to the fifth position while Tim Southee moved down by one spot to the sixth position, in the ICC Test Rankings list for bowlers. Devon Conway’s 92 runs in the second innings helped him to move up by six places to occupy 17 position in the batters Rankings list.
