Ace Indian Suryakumar Yadav has climbed to his career-best second position in the latest ICC T20I Men’s Batting rankings. Yadav moved up three places after a match-winning knock of 76 runs in the third T-20I against West Indies in the ongoing series.
Suryakumar Yadav has been in fascinating form throughout the season. He gained a massive surge in the rankings after a spectacular century against England held last month. Yadav continued his stint by scoring 111 runs in the ongoing T-20I series against West Indies with a strike rate of 168.
Yadav’s heroics has helped India to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Making his debut only in the last year, he has been a remarkable addition to the Indian side. Notably, Suryakumar has been sent to open the innings alongside skipper Rohit Sharma in the ongoing series.
Suryakumar Yadav is very close to toppling Babar Azam and claiming the No. 1 position in the T-20I rankings. Yadav is only a couple of ratings behind Azam and forms a stalwart threshold to make it into the T20 World Cup squad for India.
Meanwhile, the likes of Mohammed Rizwan (third), Aiden Markram (fourth), and Dawid Malan (fifth) dropped a spot below after Yadav’s jump in the T20I Rankings list. South African batsman Reeza Hendricks climbed 16 places to the 15th position.
Gustav McKeon moves up to 134th Position in Batters Rankings
A massive surge in T20I Rankings for batters was witnessed for South Africa’s Tristan Stubbs and France’s Gustav McKeon. The heroics of the batsmen helped them to climb 1,404 and 706 spots to the 126th and 134th positions respectively. Meanwhile, West Indies batter Brandon King (up 29 places to 27th), England’s Jonny Bairstow (up 13 places to 31st), and South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw (joint-37th) have also made profitable gains in the latest ICC T20I Rankings for batters.
The bowling rankings also witnessed a significant rejig as South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi climbed to the second spot dropping Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan to the third after a marvelous performance against England in the recently concluded T20I series. Caribbean spinner Akeal Hosein climbed to a career-best sixth position after a brilliant performance against India.
In the ICC T20I Rankings for all-rounders, Aiden Markram rose to the seventh spot whereas Zimbabwe’s Sikander Raza climbed eight spots to the 11th position. Hardik Pandya rose nine places to the 13th position.
ICC Test Rankings
Less proportionate changes were witnessed in the ICC Test Rankings. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma dropped a spot to the ninth position whereas paceman Jasprit Bumrah climbed to the third position. Dinesh Chandimal climbed two spots to the 16th position after a magnificent stint in the Pakistan series.
Sri Lankan spinning duo of Ramesh Mendis and Prabhat Jayasuriya also gained massively in the Test bowling rankings. Mendis claimed the 31st spot after moving up 19 places whereas Jayasuriya stood on the 33rd spot after climbing 11 places.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Rizwan & Imam-Ul-Haq moved up to 17th & 49th positions in the ICC Test Rankings for batters while Naseem Shah (up seven places to 60th) and Mohammad Nawaz (up 21 places to 68th) moved up to decent positions in the bowlers’ Rankings.
ICC ODI Rankings
In the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings, Opener Shikhar Dhawan will move up by one spot to occupy the 12th position on the back of his good run in the West Indies ODI series. West India skipper Nicholas Pooran too moved up by two places to occupy the 30th position in the list. While in the bowlers’ Rankings Yuzvendra Chahal (16th) and Shardul Thakur (72nd) are the notable gainers.
