ICC Test Rankings: Jasprit Bumrah & Karunaratne made Remarkable Gains in the Latest Update

Jasprit Bumrah & Dimuth Karunaratne made fantastic gains in the latest ICC Test Rankings Update considering their swashbuckling performances in the recently concluded India vs Sri Lanka Test series. Meanwhile what comes as sad news for all Virat Kohli fans is the fall of ‘King Kohli’ from the fifth spot to the ninth position among the Batters Rankings list.

Jasprit Bumrah’s eight-wicket haul along with his maiden five-wicket haul at home ground in the final Pink Ball Test helped him to advance by six spots to No 4 position in the Bowlers Rankings list. Bumrah has surpassed the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee, James Anderson, Neil Wagner, and Josh Hazlewood to occupy his career-best fourth position in the bowlers’ Rankings Chart.

Mohammed Shami moved up by one spot to replace his teammate Ravindra Jadeja in the 17th position in the Bowlers Rankings list while Lasith Embuldeniya & Praveen Jayawickrama moved up by five positions each to occupy 32nd & 45th position. Pat Cummins, Ravichandran Ashwin & Kagiso Rabada have retained their top three spots among bowlers Rankings.

In the Batters Rankings list, Sri Lanka Test Captain Dimuth Karunaratne moved up to his career-best No 5 poistion after his firing 107 runs knock in the secodn innings of the Pink Ball Test. Virat Kohli’s lean patch resulted in the former moving down to the ninth spot while Babar Azam moved up to No.8 position in the Batters charts which is led by Marnus Labuschange, followed by Joe Root, Steve Smith & Kane Williamson.

Nkrumah Booner & Shreyas Iyer are among the massive gainers who advanced by 22 & 40 spots to occupy 22nd & 37th positions in the batters list. While Bonner’s gutsy 125 & unbeaten 38 in the drawn first Test in Antigua rewarded him, Shreyas Iyer’s match-winning 92 & 67 against Sri Lanka helped him to move in the upward direction in the Batters Rankings list.

In ICC test Rankings for all-rounders, Jason Holder reclaimed his top spot replacing Ravindra Jadeja who had risen to the No.1 spot after his unbeaten 175 & nine-wickets haul in the Mohali test while Ashwin, Shakib & Ben Stokes continues to summon the top five positions in the all-rounders rankings list.
