ICC Test Rankings: Ravindra Jadeja becomes No 1 all-rounder in Test Format

Ravindra Jadeja’s scintillating performance in the recently concluded Mohali test against Sri Lanka guided him to the No 1 spot in the ICC Test Rankings for all-rounders. His unbeaten 175 runs knock helped him to move up by 17 places from 54th position to 37th position in the batters Rankings list while his nine-wicket haul helped him to move up to 17th position in the bowlers Rankings list.

However, his all-round performance helped him to regain the top spot in the ICC Test Rankings for all-rounders. Ravindra Jadeja snatched the top spot in the all-rounder’s rankings list from Jason Holder who had held it since February 2021. The Last time Jadeja held the top spot in the all-rounders list was in August 2017 & he managed to retain the top spot for a week. Virat Kohli who scored 45 in his 100th Test, moved up by two spots to No 5 on the batters Rankings list while Rishabh Pant, who hit a dizzying 96 off 97, moved up by one spot to break into the top ten list.

The Rawalpindi test between Pakistan & Australia was not less than a batting fest. Pakistan amassed 476 for 4 in the first innings followed by 250 for 0. Imam-Ul-Haq was their key batter who registered twin tons to move up to his career-best 63rd position in the batters Ranklings Update. His maiden Test century came in the first innings where he stitched a 208 run stand with Azhar Ali who himself put on blistering 185 runs to move up by 10 places to occupy No 12 position in the ICC Test Rankings update for batters. For Australia, Travis Head who managed to score just 48 runs moved down from 5 to No 7 position.

Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne who missed out a ton after being dismissed for 90 moved up by one spot to grab No 1 position in the batters Rankings. Usman Khawaja who too got dismissed in his 90s continued his dominance by moving up by six points to 24th position in the batters rankings list.

In ICC T20I Rankings, the first top 12 remained unchanged however, Hazratullah Zazai who scored an unbeaten 59 against Bangladesh at Mirpur, ensured a shared series win. For Bangladesh, Liton Das was the star performer with the bat by amassing 60 runs which helped him to gain 26 places to occupy 49th position over the course of the series. Meanwhile, with the ball, Nasum Ahmed managed to break into the top 10 list thanks to his ‘Player of the Match’ performance whereby he ended with figures of 4-10 in the first T20I.
