ICC Women's ODI Rankings: Harmanpreet, Brunt and Athapaththu rise in the Latest Update

ICC Women’s ODI Rankings: Indian skipper and all-rounder Harmanpreet Kaur, England pacer Katherine Brunt and Sri Lankan batter Chamari Athapaththu have gained significantly in the latest Women’s ODI rankings released by the International Cricket Council.

Katherine Brunt is back on the list of Top 10 bowlers after her stunning performance against South Africa on Monday where she ended with a brilliant figure of 3/18. South African batter Chloe Tyron also moved 12 spots up to the 22nd position in the all-rounder’s rankings after her spectacular knock of 88 of 73 balls against England in the first ODI.

Frontline Indian batter Smriti Mandhana and spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad have climbed to the ninth position backed by a stellar performance in the Sri Lankan series. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has moved four places up to the 20th position in the all-rounders’ rankings as she was adjudged the Player of the Series against Sri Lanka for her 119 runs and 2 wickets.

The highlight of the latest edition of ICC Women’s ODI rankings was Chamari Athapaththu who reached her career-best rankings of the eighth position in the batter’s rankings. Athapaththu scored fabulously in the Indian series. She last achieved the same ranking in 2017, when she scored 178 against Australia in the World Cup 2017.

The rankings of Mandhana, Gayakwad, and Harmanpreet will remain stable as the series against Sri Lanka has concluded with India winning by 2-1. Brunt’s and Tyron’s positions may go up or down following the continuation of the South Africa series.

Other gainers in the rankings include Indian batter Shafali Verma and Nilakshi de Silva. Verma rise three spots up to the 33rd position whereas Nilakshi climbed ten spots up to the 47th position in the batter’s rankings. Harshitha too moved to the 43rd position after her mind-blowing performance in the recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s Inoka Ranaweera stormed into the top 20 of the bowlers’ rankings as by grabbing 16th position in the latest rankings update. Indian bowler Meghna Singh also moved four places up to the 43rd position. English batter Emma Lamb smashed a stupendous century to climb 76 places to the 101st position. She was awarded the Player of the match for her spectacular knock while fast bowler Katherine Brunt moved up by three places to joint ninth position in the bowlers’ Rankings list.
