The ICC has released an updated Women’s T20I Rankings list & Australia’s Captain Meg Lanning is the major gainer in the latest update. Riding on the back of her swashbuckling 74 runs knock against Ireland, Meg Lanning reclaimed her top spot in the ICC Women’s T20I Rankings for batters. Lanning has surpassed Beth Mooney to reclaim her top position which she first occupied in January 2014. She held the top position until November 2016 & now after six years Lanning bounced back to regain her top spot in the Rankings list.
Tahlia McGrath whose splendid knock of 70 runs helped her to win the ‘Player of the Match’ award has moved up by 15 places to occupy 13th position in the list while Rachael Haynes has moved up by two spots to occupy 51st position. In the bowlers’ Rankings, Australian player, Jess Jonassen advanced up by four places to reach sixth place while medium-fast bowler Nicola Carey moved up by 20 places to grab 32nd place.
Ireland players also made an upward move in the latest Rankings Update. Rebecca Stokell advanced up from 87th to 82nd position on the batters list while Ava canning has moved up from 85th to 71st position on the bowlers’ list.
Ayabonga Khaka moves up into the top 10 while Brunt occupies the third spot in the bowlers’ list
The Latest Rankings Update also covers ENG W vs SA W T20I series played just a week before the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. For England Women’s team, pacer Katherine Brunt & Sophie Ecclestone who have scalped five wickets each in the three-match T20I series have made significant gains in the ICC Women’s T20I Rankings Update. Brunt has moved up by four places to occupy the third spot in the bowlers’ list while Ecclestone has consolidated her position at the top, gaining six rating points to reach 767 points.
England’s batters who made an upward move in the Batter Rankings List are Sophia Dunkley who moved up by 30 places to occupy the 62nd position on the back of her 82 runs in the series. Nat Sciver’s 84 runs total helped her to consolidate her position in the top 10 on the batters list.
Coming to South Africa Women, Laura Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch’s half-centuries helped them to make notable gains in the Rankings. Wolvaard’s score of 89 runs helped her to move up by five places to reach 14th position while Bosch has moved up by 26 places to 21st position with a total of 96 runs in the series. Tazmin Brits who marched in the third T20I as the replacement of Marizanne Kapp moved up by 14 places to grab 24th position on the list.
In the bowlers’ Rankings list, Proteas prolific bowler Ayabonga Khaka’s four-wicket haul helped her to break into the top 10 list while Nonkululeko Mlaba’s three wickets take her to 24th position.
