England’s all-rounder Moeen Ali has been appointed as the Captain of the Sharjah Warriors franchise for the inaugural edition of ILT20 beginning in January 2023. The franchise has appointed former T20 World Cup winning coach of Sri Lanka, Paul Farbrace as the Head Coach of the franchise.
Speaking about his signing Moeen Ali said that it’s a matter of pride for him to lead Sharjah Warriors in the inaugural edition of ILT20. He further said that in the T20I format it’s essential to keep learning & evolving & playing for Sharjah Warriors will help him to play aggressive yet sensible cricket. He also highlighted that playing at Sharjah’s stadium with world-class facilities in place will be a great opportunity for him.
Further Sharjah Warriors has also signed Matthew Maynard as their batting coach & G Jayakumar as their bowling coach. The duo will join the coaching setup along with Frabrace. Notably, Frabrace has previously served as an Interim Coach of England’s National team apart from serving as the deputy coach of England’s team under Trevor Bayliss & Peter Moores.

Speaking about the signings Frabrace said that the T20 format is exciting yet challenging & it’s overwhelming to see talented players from across the globe showcasing their talent through franchise T20 leagues. We hope that we could witness some spell-bounding performances which will further help the budding cricketers & young professionals to groom themselves.
Former India fielding Coach R Sridhar would take up the role of Director of Cricket with the franchise while Mumbai’s pacer Kshemal Waingankar will take up the role of Chief Operating officer.
