IND vs BAN 1st ODI: Stars are not aligned with the Indian team as they have been charged one penalty point & 80% match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against Bangladesh in the first ODI in Mirpur on Sunday.
One of the best umpires of ICC’s Elite Panel of Match referees, Rajan Madugalle has imposed the sanction over India after they were found four overs short of the target after considering the time allowances.
According to the ICC Code of Conduct for Players & Player Support Personnel which refers to minimum over-rate offenses, players are fined 20% of their match fee if their team fails to bowl overs in the allotted time slot. Indian team Captain Rohit Sharma pleaded guilty to the offense. He accepted the proposed sanction & thus there was no need for a formal hearing.
The charges were leveled at India by the onfield umpires Tanvir Ahmed, Michael Gough & third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid & fourth umpire Gazi Sohel.
IND vs BAN 1st ODI: India suffered a nervy one-wicket defeat at the hands of hosts
Coming to the IND vs BAN 1st ODI, India didn’t get off to an ideal start to the ODI series as they suffered one wicket loss against Bangladesh. Initially, batting first Except KL Rahul (73 off 70) none of their batters could actually create an impact ending their innings at 187 runs. For Bangladesh Shakib-Al-Hasan (5-36) & Ebadot Hossain (4-47) starred with the ball.
In reply, chasing a meager 187-run target Bangladesh too was reduced to 26-2 in 9.1 overs. However, a 48-run stand between Litton Das (41) & Shakib (29) helped Bangladesh to get back on track. India tried hard to defend their low target by reducing Bangladesh to 136-9. However, in end, things changed for Bangladesh as Mehidy Hasan Miraz (38*) stitched a 51-run stand with Mustafizur Rahman to guide the hosts over the line in 46 overs. For India Mohammed Siraj (3-32) & Washington Sundar (2-17) starred with the ball. While debutant Kuldeep Sen & Deepak Chahar too supported by returning with two & one wickets each respectively. But all their efforts went in vain as they couldn’t scalp the last wicket to register a thrilling win.
