IND vs BAN 2022: The BCB on Friday announced that Litton Das will lead Bangladesh’s ODI squad in their three-match ODI series against India starting at Dhaka on Sunday. Earlier this week Bangladesh’s regular Captain Tamim Iqbal pulled out of the ODI series due to a groin injury. Further, he might miss the Test series against India starting in Chattogram on December 14.
Injuries spate has been a major concern for Bangladesh as their star player Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out of the first ODI after sustaining a grueling back injury. Though Litton Das has never captained Bangladesh in an ODI fixture earlier, he led the T20I team back in April 2021. He has been exceptional for Bangladesh in all formats of the game & is the highest run-scorer in ODIs in the 2022 calendar year by amassing 500 runs in ten innings averaging 62.50.
IND vs BAN 2022: BCB Chairman heaped praise on Litton Das
Speaking about Litton leading the Bangladesh team, BCB’s Chairman of Cricket Operations Jalal Yunus said that he is one of the most prolific players in the history of Bangladesh Cricket & possesses great leadership qualities.
Further talking about Tamim’s injury Jalal said that the absence of Tamim in the crucial ODI series is a setback for the Bangladesh team as under Tamim’s captaincy Bangladesh has produced some outstanding results & has been one of the best players in Bangladesh Cricket in the T20I format. BCB is yet to announce a replacement for Tamim. However, Shroful Islam has been included in the team in place of Taskin.
Bangladesh has done a fantastic job in the ODI format under Tamim Iqbal’s leadership. They went ahead to win eight out of 12 fixtures in 2022 & are currently placed in the fifth position in the ODI Super League Points Table & have automatically qualified for ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
IND vs BAN series will commence on December 4 in Dhaka & the second ODI will be played at the same venue on December 7. Meanwhile, the final match of the series will be played in Chattogram on December 10.
