BAN vs IND 2nd ODI Live: There comes a major jolt for the Indian team as their Captain Rohit Sharma has sustained a thumb injury while fielding during the ongoing second ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.
Rohit encountered an injury while taking a catch of Anamul Haque’s shot on the fourth delivery of the second over standing at the second slip. Complaining of pain Rohit was immediately accessed by the BCCI medical team & was rushed to Dhaka hospital for further scans.
The incident happened during the second over when Rohit was standing at slips. Facing Mohammed Siraj’s delivery Haque edged the ball behind at the second slip where Rohit was standing. The Captain tried to catch the ball but couldn’t do so as the ball hit his thumb & slipped from his hands. Feeling the pain Rohit went off the field for assessment & was taken for the scans. Rajat Patidar came on the field as Rohit’s substitute & Vice-Captain KL Rahul took over the captaincy in his absence.
Confirming the development, BCCI tweeted:
Rohit has returned for the Bangladesh tour after missing the white-ball series against New Zealand which was played right after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2022. Out of the eight ODI series which India played in 2022, this was only the third ODI series that Rohit featured in. The last ODI series in which Rohit had featured was against England played in July. He went on to miss the ODI series against West Indies, Zimbabwe, and South Africa in order to focus on the T20 World Cup 2022. The recent ODI series that Rohit missed was against New Zealand.

Coming to the ongoing second ODI, Bangladesh won the toss & their Captain Litton das decided to bat first against Men IN blue. Kuldeep was rested for the second ODI after complaining of back stiffness. BCCI’s medical team assessed him & though there was no major concern, the medical team advised him to take rest as a precautionary measure.
