IND vs ENG Semifinal 2: India suffers a humiliating 10-wicket defeat, fails to qualify for Finals

IND vs ENG Semifinal 2: Crores of Indian dreams to bring back the World Cup remained unfulfilled as England outclassed India in every department to clinch a massive 10-wicket win. Indian batters & bowlers both failed miserably to get the better of England, as a result, they got knocked out of the tournament.

Virat-Hardik revived India’s Innings

Batting first India got off to a poor start as they lost their opener, KL Rahul, in the second over for just 5 runs reducing India to 9-1. Virat Kohli then came to India’s rescue & along with Rohit Sharma, he stitched a 47-run stand to keep India’s scoreboard ticking. However, their stand couldn’t flourish further with Jordan dismissing Rohit for 27 runs in 28 balls reducing India to 58-2 in 9 overs.

But Virat on the other end was going strong. After Suryakumar’s (11) early dismissal in the 12th over, Virat did the rebuilding work for India by stitching a 61-run stand for the fourth wicket with Hardik Pandya. Virat Kohli scored 50 runs off 40 balls in an innings braced with four fours & a six. On the other hand, Pandya amassed 63 off 33 balls with four fours & five sixes.

Their blitzkrieg helped India to recover from a state of bother. However, England practiced restricted bowling & didn’t let them open their arms freely. As a result, India could manage to score 168 runs in the alotted 20 overs with Pandya getting dismissed on the last ball of the final over. For England, Chris Jordan was the pick of bowler after returning with scores of 3-43.

Loopholes in India’s Bowling ended their Finals Hopes

In reply, England gets off to a mind-blowing start with openers Jos Buttler & Alex Hales going for boundaries & maximums right from the word go. The duo smashed Indian bowlers across the park by scoring 63-0 in powerplay overs. They also brought up their haklf centuries & the target was looking like a cakewalk for them. Hales stayed unbeaten at 86 runs off 47 balls with nine fours & three sixes. Buttler played a captain’s knock by amassing 80 runs off 49 balls in beautiful innings embellished with nine fours & three sixes. The duo guided England over the line in just 16 overs with ease finishing their innings at 170-0.

IND vs ENG Semifinal 2: Brief Scores

India 168-6 (Hardik Pandya 63, Virat Kohli 50; Chris Jordan 3-43) England 170-0 (Jos Buttler 80, Alex Hales 86)
