India’s T20 World Cup Campaign has ended on a harsh note with India suffering a defeat at the hands of England in Semifinal 2. But as it is said the show must go on so the entire Indian team will now travel to New Zealand for three-match T20I & ODI Series beginning on 18th November. The BCCI has decided to rest their key players for the IND vs NZ 2022 limited-overs series. They have also decided to rest Rahul Dravid for the New Zealand series with VVS Laxman stepping in as stand-in coach in Dravids’ absence.
As per the sources, Hrishikesh Kanitkar & Sairaj Bahutule will also join the Coaching staff for New Zealand’s limited overs series by taking up the roles of batting & bowling coach. VVS Laxman who is the incharge of NCA had previously served as India’s Head Coach on Ireland & Zimbabwe tours. He had also coached India’s U-19 team who won the ODI World Cup in February.
Rahul Dravid will return back to his role when India will tour Bangladesh after the conclusion of the New Zealand tour. Immediately after the conclusion of the third & final ODI against New Zealand on November 30, the Indian team will travel to Bangladesh to participate in three-match ODI series beginning on December 4.
Coming to IND vs NZ 2022 series, All-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the T20I squad while Shikhar Dhawan will captain India’s ODI Squad. After the conclusion of India’s Campaign in the ongoing T20 World Cup, the key players of the squad who are rested for the series have already started to depart from Australia. Virat Kohli has already left from Adelaide while Rohit Sharma & KL Rahul are expected to fly soon.
India’s tour of New Zealand will begin on November 18 with three-match T20I Series. After the conclusion of the T20I series, both the teams will battle it out in three-match ODI series beginning on November 25.
