IND vs NZ 2nd T20I Highlights: Suryakumar shines as India beats New Zealand by 65 runs

IND vs NZ 2nd T20I Highlights: Riding on the back of gleaming performances by Suiryakumar Yadav & Deepak Hooda India wrapped up New Zealand’s innings for just 126 runs registering a 65-run win in the three-match T20I series at Bay Oval on Sunday.

Suryakumar’s blitzkrieg guided India to a competitive Total

The match unfolded with India batting first & scoring a mammoth target of 191 runs on board. Openers Rishabh Pant & Ishan Kishan led India to a steady start by scoring 36 runs for the first wicket, however, in the 6th over India suffered a major blow with opener Rishabh walking back to the pavilion for just 6 runs. But Ishan on the other side was going strong with the willow. He Joined hands with Suryakumar Yadav & kept India’s scoreboard ticking. But soon their blooming stand was broken when Ishna Kishan was going off to the pavilion for Just 36 runs off 31 balls with fours in his kitty.

But Suryakumar on the crease meant all was well for India as the star batter continued his onslaught with the bat. He made a mockery of New Zealand’s bowlers by smashing an unbeaten 111 in 51 balls with 11 fours & seven sixes. He stitched valuable stands with Shreyas Iyer (13 off 9) & Hardik Pandya (13 off 13) to help India end their innings at 191 runs in 20 overs. For New Zealand, Tim Southee starred with the ball by returning with figures of 3-34. Lockie Ferguson too supported him by scalping 2-49.

Williamson’s Efforts went in vain as India outclassed them at a meager total

Chasing a target of 126 runs, New Zealand got off to a poor start as they lost their opener Finn Allen (0) in the opening over. But Kane Williamson & Devon Conway acted as a savior for them as they did the rebuilding work for Black Caps. They smashed 56 runs for the first wicket before Conway was dismissed off Sundar’s delivery for 25 runs off 21 balls in the ninth over. There was a mini-collapse for New Zealand as they lost Glenn Phillips (12 off 6) & Mitchell (10 off 11) early reducing New Zealand to 88-4 in 13 overs. But Kane Williamson held his nerves & continued the onslaught with the bat. He smashed 61 runs off 52 balls with four fours & two sixes.

However, Williamson’s dismissal in the 18th over was the final nail in the coffin for New Zealand as none of their lower-order batters could actually take the onus & guide their team near the target. Deepak Hooda wreaked havoc with the ball & registered a triple wicket haul in the last over by dismissing, Milne (6), Ish Sodhi (1) & Southee (0) restricting New Zealand to 126 in 18.5 overs & registering a massive 65 runs win.

For India, Deepak Hooda starred with the ball by returning with figures of (4-10) Chahal & Arshdeep too supported by scalping two wickets each.
