IND vs SA 2022: Physio Kamlesh Jain joins Indian Team's Support Staff

Physio Kamlesh Jain formally joined the Support Staff of the Indian team on Monday, June 6. Kamlesh who was a part of KKR’s support staff for almost 10 years, including three years as the head physio, has been recruited by the BCCI in place of Nitin Patel who has moved to the NCA in Bengaluru.

The BCCI’s sources have confirmed Kamlesh Jain’s appointment to the Indian National team’s Support staff. The Chennai-based physio was at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Monday when India’s T20I squad practiced for almost three hours ahead of their first T20I on June 9. The 18-member team is gearing up to take on competitive South Africa in a five-match T20I series commencing on June 9 in Delhi. The rest of the four matches of the series will be played in Cuttack (June 12), Vizag (June 14) and Rajkot (June 17) with the final match of the series to be played on June 19 in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, half of the support staff barring Rahul Dravid will leave for England on June 16 along with India’s Test squad selected for the rescheduled fifth Test after the third T20I on June 14. Dravid on the other hand, will oversee the five-match T20I series & will depart for England on June 19 from Bengaluru along with Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer, who have been selected for both Test and T20I squads. In the upcoming T20I series, Dravid will be assisted by the NCA staff who have already joined the team in Delhi.

Headed by the captain Rohit Sharma, India’s Test squad will lock horns with England in the fifth rescheduled Test from July 1 at Edgbaston which will complete last year’s five-match Test series which got disrupted due to Covid cases in the Indian camp after four Test matches.

After the conclusion of the South Africa T20I series, India’s T20I squad will travel to Ireland for a two-match Test series starting on June 26 & 28. The BCCI has already stated that VVS Laxman will serve as the Head Coach for Ireland series & will travel with India’s T20I squad to Dublin. After the conclusion of the Ireland series, India’s T20I squad will join Rahul Dravid & Co in England for India’s white-ball leg against England.
