IND vs SA 4th T20 2022: The five-match T20I series has entered a fascinating phase as India had bounced back in the third T20I & now the equation read 2-1. However, the sword of losing the series is still hanging over India as they will have to win the fourth T20I to save the series. The fourth T20I between India & South Africa will be played on 17th June at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot.
Fuming India would aim to level the series on the grounds of SCA Stadium
The ‘Men in Blue’ would be brimming with confidence after producing their biggest T20I win over South Africa on Tuesday by defeating the Proteas by 48 runs at Vishakhapatnam. An outstanding performance from India’s opening pair has helped them register a decent total on board. However, the collapse of their middle-order is a concern for hosts’ which they need to address heading into another must-win fixture.
On the bowling front, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been in his best form, moving the ball both ways & struggling the South African batters. He bowled deliveries on perfect lengths & lines to rattle Africa’s top-order in their previous clash. Proteas top-order didn’t have the answers to his on-point seam attack & would aim to find some ahead of the crucial third T20I. Proteas’ middle order have compensated for the loss caused by their top order. But India’s Yuzvendra Chahal made things difficult for them in the second T20I by scalping back-to-back wickets in middle overs. Chahal who had failed to execute a good bowling show in the first two T20Is was breathing fire during the third T20I. South African batters need to come-out with a solid plan of action to face India’s lethal spin attack in the third T20I.
Bowlers will continue to have a bigger say in the fourth T20I
The Indian pitches that are termed as bowlers friendly, the seam bowling attack has been the major limelight of the ongoing T20I series. In terms of the pace-attack, India had dominated South Africa in the last three T20Is. The Indian seamers were perfect on their bowling length & have managed to scalp crucial wickets in the three T20Is played until now. Thanks to Indian pacers’ stellar bowling show, they are leading the ICC T20I rankings for bowlers. Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Harshal Patel are up on the bowlers’ rankings followed by Chahal and Dwaine Pretorius.
For South Africa, their star pacers Kagiso Rabada & Anrich Nortje failed to find their feet in the ongoing five-match T20I series. Both the pacers would aim to get back their form & end the series on a high note.
Could Ishan & Klaasen continue to grab the limelight?
On the batting front, India has seen the rise of a ‘new hero’ in the form of Ishan Kishan who has managed to score consistently in all the three T20Is played. In the ongoing five-match T20I series, Ishan Kishan is the highest run-scorer followed by Heinrich Klaasen.
In the third T20I, Ishan Kishan along with Ruturaj Gaikwad stitched the highest opening stand of 96 runs to help India register an imposing 179 runs on board. He single-handedly scored 54 runs off 34 balls to keep India’s scoreboard moving in the third T20I. Ishan has registered two half-centuries in the series until now & would aim to go all blazing guns in the next two T20Is as well.
On the other hand, Heinrich Klaasen coming as a replacement for injured Quinton de Kock left a mark in the series. Klaasen’s unbeaten 81 run-knock guided South Africa to a scintillating win in the second T20I & helped them to take a 2-0 lead in the series. He was also on scoring terms in the third T20I amassing 29 runs off 15 balls. If both Klaasen & Ishan Kishan continues their stellar performances they would surely become an integral component of their respective teams.
Whether the fuming Indian team would level the series by winning the Third T20I or South Africa would have some other plans in their mind? To get answers to these questions we will have to wait till the 17th of June, when both the teams would lock horns with each other.
