IND vs WI 5th T20I: Ravi Bisgnoi’s four-wicket haul & Axar Patel’s three-wicket haul guided India to an ultimate 88 runs win over West Indies & clinch the series by 4-1 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill on Sunday.
Indian batters took West Indies bowlers for Cleaners
The match was unveiled with India winning the toss & opting to bat. Batting first, India put up a massive 188-run total on board. In absence of Rohit Sharma, the stand-in captain Hardik Pandya sent a new opening pair combination to begin India’s innings. Shreyas Iyer & Ishan Kishan began the proceedings for India but suffered an early jolt with Ishan Kishan going back to the pavilion for 11 runs. Shreyas Iyer & Deepak Hooda then took the matter into their hands & accelerated India’s innings by amassing 76 runs in 7.1 overs. The duo took West Indies bowlers for cleaners & took India over 100 run mark. Deepak Hooda scored 38 runs off 25 balls while Shreyas Iyer scored 64 runs off 40 balls.
The Middle & lower order comprising Sanju Samson (15), Dinesh Karthik (12), and Axar Patel (3) all failed to hit the straps. It was the heroics of stand-in Captain Hardik Pandya who smashed 28 runs in 16 balls to take India to a respectable total of 188 in the allotted 20 overs.
The Caribbean batters misery with bat cost them one more match
Chasing the target of 189 runs, West Indies got off to a disastrous start as they lost three wickets right in the powerplay overs. Jason Holder (0), Shamrah Brooks (13) & devon Thomas (10) all failed to deliver in front of Axar Patel’s lethal spin attack & were sent back to the pavilion. Captain Nicholas Pooran & Shimron Hetmyer then joined the hands to resurrect their innings but failed in doing so as Kuldeep dismissed Pooran for just 3 runs in the eighth over. West Indies score read 64-4 after ten overs & they were in desperate need of a stable stand.
In the 12th over West Indies lost two more wickets with Bishnoi dismissing Rovamn Powell (9 off 13) & Keemo Paul (0) back to the pavilion. The only lone fighter who was leading West Indies innings was Shimron Hetmyer who amassed 56 runs off 35 balls before getting dismissed off Ravi Bishnoi’s delivery.
West Indies score read 88-6 after 11 overs with the next four wickets falling within the next 4 overs. Dominic Drakes (1), Odean Smith (0), Hayden Walsh (0), and Obed McCoy (0) are all getting dismissed cheaply. As a result, West Indies innings were wrapped for just 100 runs within 15 overs, handing India a massive 88 runs win.
With this glorious win in the fifth & the final T20I, India clinched the series by a 4-1 score dominating West Indies in both ODI & T20I formats in their own backyard.
