IND vs ZIM Highlights, T20 WC 2022: India displayed a great all-around show to clinch a massive 71-run win over Zimbabwe. India who was already qualified for knockouts will now face England in the second semi-final on 10th November.
Indian batters hit the straps to post a decent total on Board
Batting first India got off to a blastic start with openers Rohit Sharma & KL Rahul firing cylinders right from the word go. The duo scored 25 runs for the first wicket before Muzarabani dismissed Captain Sharma for 15 runs off 13 balls in the fourth over. KL Rahul & Virat Kohli then joined hands & resurrected India’s innings. Virat & Rahul supported each other & stitched a 50-run stand in just 35 balls. However, their stand was broken with Williams dismissing Virat for 26 runs off 25 balls in the 12th over. KL Rahul didn’t lose hope & continued his onslaught by bringing up his half-century in just 35 balls.
Soon the high-rising opener was sent back to the hut in the 13th over reducing India to 95-3 in 13 overs. Rishabh too couldn’t hit the straps & was sent back for just 3 runs in the 14th over reducing India to 101-4. India was in need of runs & Suryakumar Yadav did exactly the same by smashing Zimbabwean bowlers across the ground. He stitched a 65-run stand with Hardik Pandya (18 off 18) to help India recover from major jolts. Mr 360, Suryakumar played a blistering unbeaten knock of 61 runs off 25 balls embraced with six fours & four sixes. Surya has time & again proved that ‘SKY’ has no limits & because of his heroics with the willow India was able to end their innings at 186-5 in the alotted 20 overs. For Zimbabwe, Sean Williams starred with the ball by returning with figures of 2-9.
Zimbabwe succumbed in front of India’s Bowling Attack
In reply Zimbabwe got off to a poor start as they openers Wesley (0), Chakabva (0) along with Sean Williams (11 off 18) in the powerplay overs, reducing Zimbabwe to 28-3. Craig Ervine tried to provide some resistance by smashing 13 runs off 15 balls but he was also sent packing in the 7th over. Ryan Burl (35 off 22) & Sikandar Raza (34 off 24) tried to resurrect Zimbabwe’s innings by stitching 60 run stand. However once they were sent back to the pavilion in the 14th & 17th over, things were all but over for Zimbabwe. As a result, India wrapped Zimbabwe’s innings for 115 runs in 18 overs registering 71 runs victory. For India R Ashwin starred with the ball by returning with figures of 3-22. Shami (2-14) & Pandya (2-16) too supported them by sclaping crucial wickets.

Sunday’s triple header made equations in Group 2 more interesting. Earlier in the day, the Netherlands defeated South Africa to enable India to qualify for the playoffs without taking the field & opened doors for Pakistan & Bangladesh. However, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in the second clash of the day to become the fourth semi-finalist. With India winning the third clash of the day they ended the group stage as table toppers & will now face England in the second semi-final. On the other hand, Pakistan will face New Zealand in the first semi-final.
