The Indian team would tour Australia twice in the next FTP cycle from 2024-2032 as the number of Tests per series increased from four to five. As per the reports in the Australian leading Media portal, Cricket Australia has informed broadcasters that it has secured the rights for hosting two full Test tours of India & England over the next FTP cycle 2024-2032. Further CA also said that India’s tours increased from four to five-match Test series.
The last two Test tours of Australia which consists of four matches in each series were won by India. That triumphs were considered two of India’s greatest wins in the history of World Cricket. The current ICC FTP Cycle from 2018-2023 will end with the ICC ODI World Cup in 2023 to be played in India. The full FTP cycle from 2024-2032 will be announced later this month during the ICC’s annual meeting in Birmingham on July 25 and 26.
India vs Australia series has always been the center of attraction for Australian crowds. In fact, the last four-match series down under gave the financially struggling CA a major boost by yielding them a whopping revenue of 300 million Australian dollars.
“Seasons without Test-match visits by England or India generally mean a reduction in crowds and broadcast audiences – part of the reason why CA itself works on a multi-year financial model to balance fluctuations in the international schedule,” said the report in the leading Australian daily.
After the conclusion of the iconic Gabba test, Cricket Australia expressed its gratitude to the BCCI for all the efforts it has undertaken to ensure the smooth conduct of the Series.
A second-string India team led by Ajinkya Rahane beat all the odds to defeat a full-fledged Australian squad by three wickets at the fortress Gabba to clinch the series by 2-1 & thereby retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
