Five top Indian Women Cricket- Shefali Verma, Smriti Mandana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues & Deepti Sharma will feature in the inaugural edition of “The Hundred tournament”.

Shafali Verma is the number one ranked T20I batter & she will feature in Birmingham Phoenix as a replacement for Sophie Devine. Harmanpreet Kaur will play for Manchester Originals in the opening match at the Kia Oval on July 21 while Jemimah Rodrigues will play for Northern Superchargers. “it’s very exciting that I am going to play in the first-ever game of the Hundred”, Harmanpreet Kaur said in an Official release by Hundred tournament.

“It will be special to make history, especially with a women’s match at such a big ground. We have played in front of some large crowds in India & it’s always a great experience for the players”, she added.

Smriti Mandhana will open the batting with Danni Wyatt for Southern Brave while Deepti Sharma will join England Captain Heather Knight at London Spirit. Beth Barrett-Wild the head of the Hundred Women’s competition said, “It’s so good to finally be able to confirm the involvement of some star players from the Indian team. They are a hugely exciting group of players & they will bring a lot to the competition. I can’t wait for July 21, I can’t wait for the whole competition, & I can’t wait for fans to see these world-class players doing what they do best”.

The Hundred tournament which is an ECB’s tournament will feature eight teams facing each other. The first match of Hundred Competition will be played between the women’s teams of Oval Invincibles & Manchester Originals on July 21. The Hundred tournament is a 100 balls cricket tournament that will feature some prominent players both men & women participating in the tournament later this year in the English summer.
