IPL 2022 Qualifier 2, RR vs RCB: Just like the IPL 2022 Eliminator clash, the Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2022 was no less than a nerve-triggering affair for fans. RR fans were overwhelmed as they knew that their team would make it to the finals for the second time while RCB fans were heartbroken as their wait for the maiden IPL Trophy still continues. The ‘one man’ who stood from start till the end for RR & ensured them a win was none other than Jos Buttler.
The ‘Ultimate Boss’ Jos Buttler guided RR over the line in 18 overs
Jos Buttler smashed his fourth ton of the IPL 2022 on Friday to help RR beat RCB by seven wickets & took them into the final of the IPL 2022. In the chase of 157 runs, RR made a solid start thanks to Jos Buttler & Yashasvi Jaiswal who went ballistic right from the word ‘go’. The duo stitched 60 runs stand in the power-play overs, however, their blooming stand was soon broken when Jaiswal got dismissed on the first ball of the sixth over.
But the ‘Ultimat Boss’ Jos Buttler stayed till the end & went ahead to register his fourth blistering ton of the IPL 2022. He stitched another brief 52-run stand with Captain Sanju Samson. However, RCB bowlers couldn’t digest their firing stand & dismissed Sanju Samson after scoring 23 runs off 21 balls. Sanju Samson’s dismissal brought RR under pressure but with Buttler on the crease, they were at ease.
Jos Buttler stood there fighting & scoring for RR & finished unbeaten at 106 in 60 balls taking their team over the line in 18.1 overs. In the process, Jos Buttler smashed 10 boundaries & six sixes. With this win, RR proudly marched into the finals of the IPL 2022 & would dream of lifting the shining IPL Trophy for the second time after 2008.
RR’s lethal bowling attack restricted RCB to a meagre 157 runs
Earlier Rajasthan Royals restricted RCB to an average 157 runs in the first innings. Virat Kohli who once found his form came back to his struggling phase as he got dismissed after scoring 7 off 8 balls. After the fall of Kohli’s wicket, Plessis & Patidar did a marvelous job by adding 70 runs for the second wicket. However, soon they suffered another major jolt as McCoy Obed dismissed Plessis in the 11th over after scoring 25 off 27 balls in an innings embellished with four fours & three sixes.
RCB’s previous clash hero, Patidar turned up for this clash as well by stitching a crucial fifty but couldn’t convert it into big due to a lack of support from the other end. Glenn Maxwell too chipped in with 24 off 13 balls but failed to capitalize on his good start. The fall of Rajat Patidar’s wicket in the 16th over (58 off 42 balls) was the final nail in the coffin for RCB as from there none of the other batsmen could carry their innings ahead. For Rajasthan, Prasidh Krishna starred with the ball as he claimed 3 for 22 runs in 4 overs. Obed McCoy returned with bowling figures of 3 for 23 in 4 overs.
With this stunning win, RR proudly marches into the finals of the IPL 2022 on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium where they will lock horns with another finalist, Gujarat Titans.
