Kolkata Knight Riders have bought the services of Indian pacer Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2023. The trade-off was completed on Monday & it’s a pure cash deal. Shardul is a part of the India tour of New Zealand beginning on November 18.
Shardul Thakur was acquired by Delhi Capitals during the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions for a whopping 10.75 crores During IPL 2022 auction his former teams such as Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings & Gujarat Titans had attempted to buy his services but Delhi emerged victorious among the four franchisees who indulged in bidding war for Shardul Thakur.
Shardul ended the IPL 2022 with just 15 wickets in 14 fixtures at an economy rate of 9.79. These were his lowest bowling statistics ever since he became a regular player in the league in 2017. With the bat too he became handy by scoring 120 runs at a strike rate of around 138.
Talking about IPL 2023 Retentions, KKR has been the most active franchise during this trading window which will close on Tuesday, the day when IPL teams have to submit the list of their retained & released players. The Retention period will close on Tuesday at 5 pm.
Meanwhile earlier on Tuesday, KKR suffered a major jolt as their wicket-keeper batter Sam Billings opted out of the IPL 2023 as he wanted to focus more on the longest format of cricket for England. With Sam Billings out of the tournament, KKR will now search for another prolific batter who can add more strength to the lineup.
