IPL Media Rights: The Indian Premier League and the BCCI are gearing up to establish a new record. According to industry estimates, the e-auction value of an IPL match for the 2023-2027 cycle will certainly surpass $100 million. And if that occurs, the IPL will become the second most expensive sporting property in the world. In terms of pre-match value, the IPL will surpass the Premier League and Major League Baseball.
Star India, the incumbent, paid Rs 16,348 crore for IPL media rights for the 2018-22 season. The BCCI has fixed the base price at Rs 32,890 crore for the years 2023-2027. For TV rights, the base price is Rs 49 crore per match. The basic payment for digital rights is Rs 33 crore per match.
The National Football League (NFL) in America is now the most expensive SPORTS-PROPERTY in the world. The NFL’s pre-match value is in the amount of 17.36 million dollars, or 134 crores. The Premier League comes next. The average cost of an EPL match is about 81 crores. InsideSport forecasts that the IPL Media Rights, which presently stand at 54 crores per match, will easily surpass the Premier League per match pricing.
This will become the IPL the WORLD’S SECOND MOST EXPENSIVE SPORTS PROPERTY. Even at the Base Price, the IPL is currently almost equivalent to the Premier League in terms of pre-match value. “We are convinced that IPL Media Rights will raise the bar for the sports sector.” I don’t want to guess a number. “However, BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal is convinced that it will be a record-breaking amount,” he added.
IPL media rights are now the fourth most expensive in the world. The top three assets in terms of per match value media rights sales are the National Football League (NFL), English Premier League (EPL), and Major League Baseball (MLB).
