Coronavirus major side-effect can be seen on the scheduled dates of IPL 2020!

Coronavirus, this name is familiar to all of us! This deadly virus has spread across the globe and has resulted in the deaths of many people. The virus which was originated from China has reached India and its states including Maharashtra. Certain people are tested positive for the virus and thus Government has issued certain preventive measures to keep ourselves safe. And one such measure is to stay away from crowded places where the chances of people getting infected with this deadly virus are high.

Looking into the severity of this virus and the need to safeguard the health of the citizens, Maharashtra’s home minister said that the spread of novel coronavirus can have an impact on IPL 2020.  Health Minister Rajesh Tope has commented on the spread of the contagious virus and its impact on the T20 league. Tope has said that IPL can be held on a later date in view of the spread of the novel coronavirus around the country.

Defending Champions Mumbai Indians are going to play against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on March 29 in the opening match of the IPL series. Talking about the possibility of IPL dates Tope said to media persons, “There is always a possible danger of spread (of contagious diseases) when large numbers of people gather in one place… Such (IPL) events can always be organized later”.

Tope also said that discussions are currently on in official circles whether to postpone the IPL, and a decision would be taken and announced shortly. The minister’s remarks came just over three weeks before the start of the 2020 season of IPL.

However commenting about the commencement of IPL on the scheduled date, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly had said on Friday that the IPL will be held as scheduled. “It’s on…and BCCI will take all protection against coronavirus”.

Let’s hope that this deadly coronavirus gets cured and the difficulties the world is facing get vanished. Whether IPL will be conducted on the decided scheduled or it will be postponed as per the current situation will be decided by the concerned Government officials.
