Ajinkya Rahane displayed an outstanding show with bat against DC & defeated RCB on Monday but the right handed batsman revealed that he was disheartened to not get to play previous games in the ongoing IPL 2020.
Rahane has hit 3931 IPL runs in 146 IPL matches. Despite of such outstanding record the right handed batsman played only six games for DC in the 13th edition of the IPL. Chasing an average target of 153 runs, Dhawan & Rahane started with the bat for DC & both the batsmen played crucial knocks of 54 & 60 respectively. Rahane who headed the chase for DC got out when his team required just 18 more runs to win.
“Was disappointed when I didn’t get to play. Felt good after contributing to the team’s win and enjoyed batting with you (Dhawan). The way you batted I learned a lot,” Rahane told teammate Dhawan during a chat for IPLT20.com
“Ricky told me that I am going to bat at number three and I felt that a good opportunity is there. As a player, if you contribute in the crunch situations you feel good and when the team wins the joy doubles,” he added.
With this historic win, DC will now play against Mumbai Indians in the first qualifier & the winner of that match will directly qualify for the finals. There was an interesting twist in yesterday’s match, If Delhi had won the match against RCB inside 17.3 overs then KKR would have qualified for the playoffs. On the other hand despite of losing a match against DC, RCB has also qualified for the playoffs with 14 points scored from 14 matches.
