Aleem Dar had a moment of joy at the end of Islamabad United’s Pakistan Super League match against Karachi Kings on Wednesday as his on field not out decision stood after a review was taken by Karachi Kings.
With an over to spare in the match Islamabad had drawn level with Karachi Kings score of 196 runs & when Asif Ali hit one onto his pads before running for single runs, Karachi Kings appealed for an LBW & once the umpire said no they asked for DRS. Aleem Dar then referred it to the third umpire & replays showed a big spike on Ultra Edge indicating that the batsman had hit the ball. As Aleem Dar’s on-field decision stood, Islamabad completed their highest ever chase in the PSL & marked their second victory this season. Islamabad won the toss & chose to bowl at the National Stadium, which is Karachi’s home ground. Sharjeel hit 105 runs from 59 balls & captain Babar Azam score d62 runs off 54 balls to take Karachi Kings to 196 for 3.
In reply Islamabad were first in trouble at one stage at 13 runs for 2 wickets before Alex Hales’ 46 off 21 and Faheem Ashraf’s 15-ball 25 lighted their innings. Islamabad then went strength to strength thereafter with vital contributions from Iftikhar Ahmed (49* off 37 balls), Hussain Talat (42 off 31) and Asif (21* off 9 balls), who hit the winning run with five bills and five wickets in hand.
