BBL 11: Haris Rauf signs with Melbourne Stars

The Melbourne Stars on Tuesday announced the return of Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf to the franchise for the ongoing BBL 11.

Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf will return to injury-hit Melbourne Stars to bolster their inexperienced bowling attack which suffered a serious hammering from two-time defending champion Sydney Sixers in the BBL 11 season opener match.

Haris Rauf became the eye candy for the fans at the Melbourne Stars since he made his debut in BBL 09. He was one of the leading wicket-takers for Melbourne Stars in BBL 09 scalping 20 wikcets from 10 matches including a famous hat-trick at the MCG ground. The pacer has played eight ODIs & 32 T20Is for Pakistan after making his International debut in 2020 in both T20Is & ODIs.

Rauf struggled during his brief appearance for Melbourne Stars during last season with just one wicket from three matches he has played. However, he has tried to raise the bowling attack which has conceded 213 from 20 overs against ruthless Sydney Sixers at the SCG which is the biggest defeat in the competition’s history. The franchise would miss the services of Billy Stanlake, fellow quick Liam Hatcher & Marcus Stoinis & will feature inexperienced debutants such as Sam Elliott, Brody Couch, and young spinner Syed Faridoun, who are from Lahore Qalandars.

“We can’t wait to see Haris Rauf back at the Stars. His addition brings experience, energy, and quality to our fast-bowling stocks,” Stars coach David Hussey said.

Haris Rauf will make his season debut against Brisbane Heat on December 27 & will be available for teh rest of the BBL 11. Meanwhile, Melbourne Stars will bounce back against Sydney Thunder in their home opener at the MCG on Friday.
