India’s blazing guns Deepak Chahar & Ishan Kishan will soon join India A squad in South Africa tour after the completion of the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand. Both the cricketers are currently in Kolkatta with the India T20I squad & will soon fly to Bloemfontein after the conclusion of the third and final game of the ongoing series against New Zealand, on Sunday (November 21).
On the other hand, Priyank Panchal led India A squad has already reached Bloemfontein a couple of days ago for the three-match test series against South Africa. Chahar and Kishan will assemble in Mumbai on November 24 and fly from there with the possibility of Shardul Thakur joining the squad later.
The inclusion of Ishan Kishan & Chahar comes a few days after the inclusion of Hanuma Vihari into the previously announced 14 member squad by Selection committee head Chetan Sharma on November 9. Kishan will be the second wicket-keeper as Upendra Yadav has been selected as the first wicket-keeper in the squad. Deepak Chahar will complete the pace bowling department which has four pacers- Navdeep Saini, Umran Malik, Ishan Porel, and Arzan Nagwaswalla.
The A team will play three four-day games, all in Bloemfontein, with the first match starting on November 23. The second and third games begin on November 29 and December 6 respectively.
Coaching & Support Staff of India A-Team
The support staff of the India A squad will be headed by Shitanshu Kotak. Sairaj Bahutule has been appointed the bowling coach and T Ghosh as the side’s fielding coach. NCA physio Tulsi Ram has traveled along with Vivek Ramakrishna, also of the NCA, like the trainers of India A squad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has deputed selector Harvinder Singh for the 25-day tour and flown the initial 26-member squad directly to Bloemfontein by a charter so that they will not have to undergo quarantine. However, the players have been advised on arrival that their movements in the Free State Province city are restricted only to the ground and the hotel.
