Devon Conway inspired New Zealand to clinch stupendous 53 runs win over Australia in the opening T20I against Australia in Christchurch on Monday.
Devon Conway scored an unbeaten 99 runs off 59 balls as the Black Caps overcome a slow start to finish on 184 runs for five wickets after losing the toss & being sent to put in to bat first. In reply, Australia were all out for 131 runs after 17.3 overs with Black Caps spinner Ish Sodhi taking four wickets for 28 runs. Jhye Richardson, who has recently signed cash rich league IPL 2021’s contract was among the pick of bowlers who scalped 2 wickets for 31 runs.
But Australia could not stop Conway from scoring big whose 59 runs knock of 99 runs which included 10 fours & three sixes helped the New Zealand team to bounce back from 19 for three wickets down. Australia suffered a bad start in their early innings as seamers Tim Southee and Trent Boult tore through their top order.
For Australia, not only new comers but the old star batsman such captain Aaron Finch & Glenn Maxwell also failed to deal with the swinging ball & the visitors were soon four wickets down for 19 runs. Mitch Mash top scored 45 runs & Ashton Agar contributed 23 as a string of batting failures gave New Zealand a comfortable win.
