T20 World Cup 2021: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah unveils Glittering ICC T20 World Cup in Dubai

ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is all set to kickstart from 17 October in the UAE & the preparations for the mega-event are going on in full swing. Recently the BCCI secretary Jay Shah unveiled the trophy of the prestigious T20 World Cup 2021 along with other ICC Officials in Dubai.

The post captioned, “Launched the @T20WorldCup Trophy with H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Mr. Khalid Al Zarooni and @ICC officials in Dubai. The @EmiratesCricket will be home away from home for @BCCI in the upcoming T20 World Cup #Strongertogether.

The BCCI had confirmed in June that the prestigious event which was scheduled to be played in October-November has been officially moved from India to UAE & Oman. The board has taken the decision to shift the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 to the UAE after witnessing a rapid surge in the COVID-19 cases in India.

Earlier in the mid of August, the International Cricket Council has released the full schedule for the T20 World Cup 2021. As per the schedule, The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will start on 17th October in Oman & Dubai will host the final on 14 November. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will commence with the Round 1 matches. Eight teams will compete in Round 1 matches to qualify for the Super 12 stage of the World Cup 2021.

Group A, comprises Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, and Namibia while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Oman.

The mega event will kickstart on 17 October with the Round 1, Group B matches between Oman & Papua new Genuiea at 2 pm (Local Time). On the same day, the other two teams of Group B, Bangladesh & Scotland will lock horns at 6 pm (local time) at the same venue.

Similarly, Group A teams will come into a face-off in Abu Dhabi on 18th October. The Round 1 matches will be played from 17th October till 22nd October. The top two teams of each group will qualify for the Super 12 stage.

The contest between Australia & South Africa will be the first match in the Group 1 round of the Super 12 stage. Two other teams from Group 1, England & West Indies will lock horns with each other in the evening of the same day in Dubai.

The group 2 matches will start with a superhit clash between arch-rivals India-Pakistan on October 24 at the Dubai International Stadium at 6 PM (local time). On the same day, Afghanistan will play their first match against the winners of Group B from Round 1. The final match of Group 2 will be held with India coming into a face-off with the second-placed Round 1 qualifier from Group A on November 8.

Abu Dhabi will host the first match of the T20 World Cup Semi-final on the 10th of November at 6 pm (local time). The Dubai International Stadium will host the second semi-final & the final matches of the T20 World Cup 2021 will be played on November 11 & 14. Both the semi-finals & the finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 have reserve day as well. Abu Dhabi will host the first semi-final of the tournament on 10 November at 6 pm local time.
