Pakistan’s batter Fawad Alam & Shaheen Afridi have achieved their career-best positions in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings after Pakistan win the second test against West Indies in Kingston to draw the two-match ICC World Test Championship series at 1-1.
Fawad Aalam’s unbeaten 124 runs knock in the first innings helped him move up by 34 places to 21st position. Shaheen Afridi also earned 10 points to reach the eighth position after a 10 wicket match haul that helped Afridi to seal 109 runs victory & won him the Player of the Match award. Fawad who struck four centuries since his return to Test cricket in August last year had a previous best 47th position achieved in May this year while Afridi’s 18th position before the second test was his highest ranking to date. Shaheen Afridi who has been awarded as the Player of the Series with 18 wickets has started the series in the 22nd position.
Pakistan’s Captain Babar Azam & Mohammad Rizwan are the other two Pakistan players who gained in the latest Rankings update. Babar’s scores of 75 & 33 have helped him to move up by one spot to seventh position two spots below his career-best fifth position achieved in August last year. Rizwan is back in the top 20 spots with scores of 31 & 10 not out.
Left-arm spinner Nauman Ali is another Pakistani cricketer to gain in the latest weekly update of the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings that is updated across formats on Wednesdays. His three wicket-haul in the second innings has helped him to move up from 48th to 44th position.
For the West Indies team, all-rounder Jason Holder has advanced six places to 37th position among the batsman list with scores of 26 & 47. Fast bowler Jayden Seales, the most successful bowler after Shaheen Afridi by scalping 11 wickets in the series has moved up by four spots to 54th position after his three first-innings wickets.
