IND vs NZ 2nd test Live Updates: BCCI puts out a poll on social media on Virat Kohli’s controversial dismissal

IND vs NZ 2nd Test Live Updates: The BCCI on Friday shared a video of Virat Kohli getting dismissed in a controversial manner in the Mumbai test & asked the fans to figure out whether the captain was out or not. Virat Kohli was returning to test cricket after a short one-month break but still, he failed to open his account in the final test against New Zealand a the Wankhede stadium.

Kohli was caught in front of stumps by Ajaz Patel’s delivery in the 30th over of India’s innings & the on-field umpire termed him as out after New Zealand Players went for a review. Virat Kohli was not convinced with the decision & he opted for a DRS

The replays of the on-field cameras showed that Virat Kohli got an inside edge but it was difficult to find out whether the ball hit the bat first before hitting the pad or if the impact happened at the same time. The third umpire Virender Sharma directed the on-field umpire Anil Chaudhary to go with his initial decision & thus Virat Kohli was forced to walk off the field in disbelief.

After walking off the field Virat Kohli discussed the whole thing with head Coach Rahul Dravid. Meanwhile, the Mumbai-born Black Caps spinner is on fire as he has scalped two prized wickets in a single over. The left-arm spinner removed both Virat & Pujara for ducks to leave India reeling for 113-3 at tea break.

Kohli’s controversial dismissal sparked debate on social media & the BCCI too shared a video on its Official Twitter handle while asking the netizens if Indian Captain was out or not.

IND vs NZ 2nd Test Live Updates: India’s Batting Coach Sanjay Bhangar backed Virat Kohli

“I certainly felt the ball hit the bat first. If you look at that deviation as to where the ball was going after the impact, clearly the ball hit the pad. There was wood on it. Otherwise, there was no chance the ball would have come back that much and hit the pad. Clearly, it was an error on the part of the umpire,” Sanjay Bangar told broadcasters.

“What happens when the 3rd umpire looks to make a decision like that, if he looks to slow it down further and further, then it becomes difficult. It’s rather a good thing for the umpire to see it in real-time. That’s where you get the cue that there is obviously a deviation. Too much emphasis on slowing it down actually makes it confusing for the 3rd umpire in making the right decision.

“He (Ajaz Patel) was phenomenal. He was tossing up the ball and using the moisture to good effect. The way he was always attacking the stumps, most of them were on a good length, he wasn’t afraid of throwing it up and into the driving areas. That was in the driving area. He got those 3 crucial dismissals, which was what New Zealand was looking for,” Bangar added.
