Delhi Capitals spinner Siddharth Manimaran will miss the second leg of the IPL 2021 in the UAE due to a quadriceps injury. The left arm spinner is yet to make his debut in the IPL. However his wait has now been extended after he suffered a sudden injury during a practice session.
Delhi Capitals announced the bad news of Siddharth’s injury by sharing a post on their official Instagram handle. DC has captioned the post as, “INJURY UPDATE @siddharth.manimaran has sustained a quadriceps strain while training and has been ruled out of #IPL2021 as a result. We wish him a speedy recovery #YehHaiNayiDilli”
Delhi Capitals signed former RCB pacer Kulwant Khejroliya as Siddharth’s Replacement
The franchise has signed Kulwant Khejroliya as a replacement player for the injured Siddharth Manimara for the second leg of the IPL 2021. Previously, Kulwant Khejroliya has been a part of the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore squads in the IPL.
Delhi Capitals informed its fans about roping in Kulwant as Siddharth’s replacement through an Official Media Release. “Left-arm medium fast bowler Kulwant Khejroliya has been named as Siddharth’s replacement for the remainder of the season. Khejroliya, who is already part of the Delhi Capitals team bio-bubble as a net bowler, has taken 17 wickets in 15 T20 matches at an average of 23.29. The 29-year-old represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2018 and IPL 2019 seasons, taking 3 wickets in 5 IPL matches”, DC said an Official statement
“The Delhi Capitals support staff is currently overlooking Manimaran Siddharth’s rehabilitation program in Dubai. He will be heading back to India in a few days where he will continue to undergo rehabilitation. The Delhi Capitals franchise wishes him a speedy recovery”, DC added in its statement.
Khejroliya who is also a part of the Delhi capitals team as a net bowler has taken 17 wickets in 15 T20 matches played at an average of 23.29. he has represented RCB in the IPL 2018 & 2019 where he had scalped 3 wickets in 5 IPL matches at an average of 51. His economy rate is also on the higher side with 2/33 being his best bowling figures in an IPL match.
Earlier on Tuesday, Delhi Capitals South African fast bowlers Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada & Australia’s pacer Ben Dwarshuis from Australia arrived at the team hotel in Dubai. The trio were tested for COVID-19 upon arrival in Dubai. Dwarshuis will undergo six days mandatory quarantine while the South African duos have entered the DC bio-bubble form the bio-bubble set up for the recently ended ODIs & T20I series against Sri Lanka.
The UAE leg of the IPL 2021 will kick-start on 19th September with a superhit clash between Mumbai Indians & Chennai Super kings. Delhi Capitals will start their campaign on September 22 against SunRisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
