IPL 2021, MI vs KKR Live Updates: Mumbai Indians Captain Rohit Sharma is quite confident that Mumbai Indians will make a strong comeback in today’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders.
In an interview on the Mumbai Indians Official channel, Rohit Sharma admitted that KKR is playing good cricket & will head into today’s clash with the confidence of their previous win against RCB. But he also added that Mumbai Indians has all bases covered & will make a solid comeback in today’s clash against KKR.
“We are confident, we will make a very strong comeback. KKR is playing good cricket, they must be confident after last game but we have all our bases covered, we will do well’, declared MI captain.
MI vs KKR clash is one of the most talked-about fixtures in the history of the IPL. MI has won 22 out of 28 matches against the KKR franchise. But Rohit Sharma doesn’t depend much on past records. He believes that though KKR is heading strong in the tournament the defending champions are no less & have the capability to bounce back & perform well. He emphasized the fact that Mumbai Indians will have to be at the top of their game to claim a victory in today’s clash against KKR.
Speaking in a video shared by Mumbai Indians’ Instagram account, Sharma said:
“I honestly don’t believe in past records because T20 is game of..on that particular day what happens. They [KKR] are a good opposition. They play cricket really well and they will be coming off some confidence after their last win, so it’s not going to be a cakewalk for us.”
“I know we’ve had a very handy record against them but it’s important we turn up really well on that particular day and do the job,” he added.
Mumbai Indians had a poor start to their UAE leg of the IPL 221 as they lost the opening match of the UAE leg to CSK by 20 runs. This loss was Mumbai Indians’ fourth defeat out of eight matches they have played. MI now has to win few matches to make their way to the IPL 2021 Playoffs.
IPL 2021, MI vs KKR Live Updates: Will Hardik & Rohit be available for Today’s Clash
Meanwhile, there are still clouds over Rohit Sharma & Hardik Pandya’s availability. During the Interview, Rohit didn’t drop any hint of his & Hardik’s availability. But according to the sources, Rohit Sharma is available for today’s clash but there is still no clarity over the availability of Hardik Pandya.
Hardik Pandya missed the opening match against CSK due to a niggle, but Mumbai Indians didn’t reveal the extent of niggle. With T20 World Cup 2021 not too far, the BCCI has requested franchises, ‘not to rush & risk any of the Indian squad players’. This instruction from BCCI makes Hardik’s availability doubtful.
According to the team’s coach Mahela Jayawardene, “Hardik was training and had a little niggle. So, as a precaution, we thought to give him extra days. Nothing serious!”
But when Jayawardene was asked about the availability of Pandya for the KKR clash he didn’t give any clear-cut reply.
Hardik Pandya is in trouble for the last few months due to persistent injuries & poor form. In the first phase of the IPL 2021, he didn’t bowl a single over & scored only 52 runs in 7 matches at an average of 8.66. Even on the India tour of Sri Lanka Pandya was below-par.
However, Hardik Pandya has been included in India’s 15 members T20 World Cup 2021 squad as a seam-bowling option. Whether he would be able to keep up management’s expectations & perform well in the marquee event is a ‘wait & watch thing’.
