IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals David Miller & Tabraiz Shamsi arrives in the UAE

South African cricketers David Miller and Tabraiz Shamsi have landed in the UAE on Wednesday ahead of the second leg of the IPL 2021. The duo have arrived directly from Si Lanka after playing the white ball series that comprised three Odis & Three T20Is.

After losing the 3-match ODI series (2-1), the Proteas whitewashed Sri Lanka in a 3-match T20 series. The Rajasthan Royals confirmed the duo’s arrival through a social media post.

The duo will undergo mandatory 2 day quarantine before joining the team’s bio-bubble. A reduced quarantine period has been approved for players arriving from SL vs SA 2021 series & CPL 2021.

David Miller was purchased by Rajasthan Royals for 75 lac’s during the IPL auction ahead of the 2020 edition. Though he had played in a single match during the IPL 2020 he was retained by the RR franchise because of capability to single-handedly change the course of a match.

Miller has played just one out of three T20Is for the South African team on Sri lanka tour, scoring 26 runs from 15 deliveries. With the absence of RR’s star players Jos Buttler & Ben Stokes the onus is on David Miller to step up & take RR towards the pioneer of success during the second leg of the IPL 2021.

Tabraiz Shamsi who is the No.1 T20 bowler in the ICC rankings has replaced Andrew Tye in the RR team. He will lead Rajasthan Royals spin attack in the second leg of the IPL 2021. He has also starred with the ball in the recently ended white balls series in Sri lanka. He ended the SL vs SA 2021 series as the highest wicket-taker during the 3-match ODI series, picking up eight wickets in three matches.

During the T20I series he bowled 10 overs in three matches & scalped four crucial wickets for his side. Looking at Shamsi’s heroics with the ball & his outstanding figures during the recently concluded limited overs series, he can truly be a great asset for the Rajasthan Royals.

The Rajasthan Royals will commence their campaign against the Punjab Kings on September 21 at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.
