Afghanistan’s star players Rashid Khan & Mohammad Nabi have joined the SRH team in the UAE ahead of the second leg of the IPL 2021. As per the reports, the duo are currently serving their mandatory quarantine period.
Sources within the SRH camp confirmed the arrival of both the players in the UAE to the ANI. The Officials also said that the team management will try their hard to ensure that the duo are mentally prepared for the cash rich league.
“They are very much in UAE and are undergoing quarantine. They are not just professionals, but family and the team will take complete care of them, not just during the tournament, but at all times. The management will ensure they are in the best frame of mind and perform to the best of their ability.”
Both Rashid & Nabi have become an integral part of the SRH franchise over the years. The duo are expected to play a key role in helping the Hyderabad based franchise to regain their winning form in the UAE leg of the IPL 2021.
The SunRisers Hyderabad are currently lagging on the bottom of the IPL 2021 Points table after registering just a single win in the first phase of the IPL 2021 held in India. They need to step up & win each & every match in the UAE leg of the IPL 2021 if they are looking ahead to qualify for the playoffs. The SRH team will start their campaign against Delhi Capitals on September 22 in Dubai.
Rashid Khan resigns from Afghanistan Captaincy ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021
Just after few minutes of the announcement of Afghanistan’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2021, Rashid Khan stepped down from the role of captain of Afghanistan’s cricket team. Rashid Khan was unhappy with the ACB for not consulting him before announcing their squad for the marquee event.
Taking to his official social media handles, Rashid Khan shared a heartfelt note expressing his disappointment over the recent proceedings. He also announced that he is quitting from the role of captain in the same post.
Mohammad Nabi has been appointed as the Skipper of Afghanistan Cricket Team
Afghanistan Cricket Board appointed Mohammad Nabi as Afghanistan cricket team’s captain after Rashid Khan stepped down from his role of captain on Thursday. Mohammad Nabi wholeheartedly accepted ACB’s decision to appoint him as the captain of the national team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
IPL Bound players to undergo two days of isolation & COVID-19 on arrival in the UAE
Meanwhile the IPL bound players coming in from the CPL 2021 & the Sri Lanka- South Africa series will undergo two days of mandatory isolation & COVID-19 test before joining their team bubbles. Bubble to bubble transfer means that the players did not need to undergo quarantine for six days.
“The players coming in from the bubbles in CPL 2021 and from the SA-SL series will undergo two days of isolation. They will come in and go into their rooms on the first day, they will then get tested the next day and once the results come in, they will join the squad members in the bubble,” the source said.
The 14th edition of the IPL 2021 will resume in Dubai on September 19 with a Super hit clash between Mumbai Indians & Chennai Super Kings.
