What comes as a major relief for Virat Kohli & Mohammed Siraj is that the RCB squad is arranging a charter flight to get Virat Kohli & Mohammed Siraj in the UAE on Sunday morning ahead of the resumption of the IPL 2021. After reaching the UAE, both Kohli & Siraj will undergo six days of mandatory quarantine before joining the team’s bio-bubble.
Speaking to the ANI, sources within the RCB franchise has confirmed that Virat & Siraj will fly from Manchester in a charter flight on Saturday night & will reach Dubai on Sunday morning.
“Yes we have arranged a charter flight for both Virat & Siraj both of them will be flying out at 11.30 pm UK time on Saturday & they will reach Dubai early Sunday morning. Safe travel of the players is the priority of the RCB. The duo will undergo a 6-day quarantine there before entering the team’s bio-bubble”, the source said.
Earlier on Friday, the IND vs ENG 5th Test 2021 was canceled in Manchester. The BCCI & ECB have several rounds of discussion to find a way to play the test match however the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Indian team forced the decision of cancelling the match.
After the cancellation of the fifth test between India & England, the IPL franchises have started their process of flying their players to the UAE as soon as possible.
While a charter plane has been arranged for Kohli & Siraj, players from Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are expected to fly commercially as per recent reports. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan revealed the travel plans for their players while speaking to the media. He said that it is not possible to arrange a charter flight their players will board a commercial flight to reach the UAE.
“The charter flight is no longer possible. We’re trying to arrange tickets for them on a commercial flight tomorrow. When they land, they will be quarantined for six days just like the rest of the players“, Viswanathan said.
The 14th edition of the IPL will resume in Abu Dhabi on September 19 with a superhit clash between CSK & MI. the action will then shift to Abu where KKR will come into a face-off against RCB. Sharjah will host its first match of the IPL 2021 on September 24 when RCB will lock horns with CSK. In total 10 matches will be palyed in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah & 8 in Abu Dhabi.
Ahead of the start of the IPL 2021, a few teams have suffered setbacks as some of their players have pulled out of the tournament due to various reasons. Thus the franchises have started to make a note of players who will be unavailable for the second leg of the IPL 2021 & have announced their replacements. The franchises such as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced replacements in their respective squads for the remainder of the season.
RCB has signed five replacements for the IPL 2021. RCB has named Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga as Adam Zampa’s replacement and brought in Tim David as a replacement for Finn Allen. Australian pacers Daniel Sams and Kane Richardson were replaced by Dushmantha Chameera and George Garton. Akash Deep is RCB’s fifth replacement of the season.
Apart from these replacements, the team saw another major change in its coaching staff with the team’s director of cricket operations Mike Hesson taking the position of head coach from Simon Katich. Simon stepped down from the role of the head coach due to personal reasons.
